Waffle cone irons are really a type of pizzelle iron which can also be used to make fine, crispy cookies. The waffle needs to be very thin, not like the ones used for making Belgian waffles. I use the same inexpensive waffle cone iron for making both my homemade fortune cookies and these cones and bowls. As always, by making them yourself, you maintain control of the ingredients. The recipe is also easy to adapt to make it completely dairy-free. I also love that these are completely grain-free. Kids really love making their own ice cream cones, and they are so impressed with the final results. It’s basically the same recipe I used for making homemade fortune cookies.
